Terms of Service
The agreement that governs your purchase and use of CodeUpdateFL continuing education courses.
Last updated: May 13, 2026
Plain-English summary: Buy a course, complete it, get your hours reported to DBPR. We don't guarantee your license renews — that's on DBPR — but we do guarantee the CE will be reported correctly and on time.
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and CodeUpdateRVA, LLC (operating as CodeUpdateFL in Florida) ("we," "us," "our"), governing your use of codeupdateFL.com, the learning platform at learn.codeupdateFL.com, and any courses you purchase from us.
By purchasing or using a course, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't purchase or use the courses.
2. The courses we sell
CodeUpdateFL sells online continuing education (CE) courses designed to satisfy the biennial CE requirements for Florida-licensed contractors under DBPR (CILB, ECLB) and FBC.
Each course is delivered online through our learning platform, timer-enforced for engagement compliance with F.A.C. 61G4-18, and completed individually by the licensed contractor whose account purchased it.
3. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for any activity under your account. You may not share your account login with another person. Completing a course requires that the licensed individual whose name will be reported to DBPR has personally engaged with the course content. Account sharing is grounds for revocation of the certificate and retraction of the DBPR submission.
4. Payment
Payment is processed by our authorized payment processor through the WooCommerce checkout at learn.codeupdateFL.com. Prices are in US Dollars. All sales are subject to our Refund Policy.
5. Completion & reporting
Once you pass the final lesson quiz (70% threshold), we generate your certificate immediately and submit your completion record to DBPR within 10 business days. Reporting includes your name, license number (as entered at registration), course title, hours, completion date, and our provider ID.
We don't guarantee that DBPR will accept the submission or that your license will renew. DBPR controls renewal eligibility, your good-standing status, and whether other requirements (insurance, fingerprinting, financial responsibility) are met. We guarantee accurate, timely reporting of the CE itself.
6. Intellectual property
The course content, including text, images, layouts, and the underlying code-section explanations, is © CodeUpdateRVA, LLC. You may not reproduce, redistribute, screen-record, share, or resell the course content. Verbatim model code language (NEC, IMC, IPC, IFGC, OSHA) is reproduced under applicable reuse permissions and remains the property of the respective code-publishing organizations.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share your login or take a course on behalf of another licensee
- Attempt to bypass the timer, quiz lock, or completion verification
- Scrape, mirror, or systematically download course content
- Resell, republish, or use the course content for any commercial purpose
- Interfere with the operation of the learning platform
8. Service availability
We make the courses available on a best-effort basis. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where possible. Unplanned interruptions happen; if a meaningful interruption affects your ability to complete a course within your renewal window, contact us and we'll work with you.
9. Disclaimers
The courses are provided "as is." We make no warranty that the course will satisfy a specific renewal scenario other than the license classes and CE hours stated on each course detail page. You are responsible for confirming the CE you need before purchasing.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Florida law, our total liability arising from your use of a course is limited to the amount you paid for that course. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost income from license suspension.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and, where mandatory, the State of Florida. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of state and federal courts located in Richmond, Virginia.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects when the current version took effect. Material changes will be communicated by email to active customers.
